Women's Soccer Falls in ECAC Quarterfinals on Late Knights Goal

Madison, N.J.- The Juniata women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker in the ECAC quarterfinals to New Jersey City University, 2-1, Saturday evening at Robert T. Shields Field.  

Sydney Simpson scored the lone goal for the Eagles, and Julia Lane made six saves in net.  

The Knights broke through in the 31st minute, with a through-ball going through the Eagle defense. A Knight forward took a touch before smashing it into the Eagle net, making it 1-0.  

JC trailed 1-0 at the break, and NJCU held a 9-3 shot advantage. 

In the 78th minute, Kylie Dries sent a ball in deep from the left side that the Knights keeper had to punch away from going into the top right corner. Mia Gianni was first to the loose ball and played it back into the middle of everyone. Simpson headed the ball into the left corner to tie the score in the 79th minute. 

In the 87th minute, a Knight corner bounced at the Juniata back post, and their defender smashed it into the net. 

Juniata ends the season 8-8-3.
