HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer battled back to earn a draw against visiting Susquehanna University, 1-1, Wednesday evening at Gibbel Stadium.
McKenna Kelley scored the tying goal for the Eagles, the first of her career, with Naomi Rich providing the assist, her second of the year. Sarah Betts made eight saves in goal for Juniata.
Eight minutes into the contest, an SU forward flicked the ball over the Juniata backline near the 18. Another SU player latched onto the bouncing ball and poked it into the right corner of the Juniata goal.
The Eagles trailed 1-0 at the half, with the visitors holding a 6-3 lead in shots and a 1-0 advantage in corners.
One minute into the second half, Rich passed the ball to Kelley deep in the right corner, and she sent the ball into the box. The ball swerved towards goal, over the outstretched arms of the goalie, who could just tip it into the roof of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
Both teams had opportunities, with Betts making five saves to help maintain the tie for Juniata.
SU finished with a 14-8 advantage in shots.
The Eagles return to action this Saturday as they host Moravian on Senior Day. Kickoff is at 1:00.
