EDWARDSVILLE, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team lost on a late goal at Wilkes, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
Naomi Rich scored for the Eagles, with Gracie French providing the assist. Sarah Betts made five saves in goal for the Eagles.
The teams were deadlocked 0-0 at the half, with Wilkes holding a 6-4 advantage in shots.
In the 78th minute, Amelia Yordy played a ball over the defense that French tracked down near the end line. She shielded the ball and played it back to onrushing Rich, who took a touch before firing the ball into the far-left corner.
The Colonels struck twice in the next five minutes, first on a penalty, and they found a winner on a corner kick header at the back post that barely broke the plane of the goal line.
The Juniata women's soccer team is on the road this Wednesday as they play at Lycoming, Wednesday at 7:00.
