Sydney Simpson Named Juniata Athlete of the Month

HUNTINGDON, PA- Juniata women's soccer player Sydney Simpson was selected as the Juniata Women's Athlete of the Month for the month of September, as voted upon by members of the athletic department.

Simpson has helped the women's soccer team to an 8-1-2 start, their best start to a campaign overall since 2014 and the best start to Landmark Conference play ever. The team defeated Drew and Goucher by a score of 1-0. In the Drew matchup, she helped keep one of the Ranger's all-region attackers from scoring.

The sophomore defender also helped going forward in September, scoring the lone goal in 1-0 win over Franciscan, and assisting Haydn Paxton's 80th minute winner against Alvernia. She also scored the opening goal in a 2-0 win over Washington and Jefferson.
