HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team exploded for eight goals as they defeated Notre Dame of Maryland 8-0 Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.
Savanna Murray had three goals, while Alyssa Bui had a goal and two assists. Kaitlyn Richardson, Mia Gianni, Chloe Stoehr, and Emma Greggo scored a goal each. Gracie French had two assists, while Naomi Rich and Rachel Yabra each had one. Sarah Betts got the win in goal for the Eagles, while Emma Stiller and Ashley Sinatra both made appearances in goal.
In the 11th minute, Bui played Murray in from just outside the 18. She took a touch before poking it past the keeper to make it 1-0.
Four minutes later, Bui crossed the ball from the end line on the left side of the goal and found Murray at the front post, who slotted it home to double the lead.
In the 17th minute, Murray completed the hat trick, getting to a loose ball in the box and firing it into the lower right corner of the goal.
In the 35th minute, Rich got the ball on the right wing and played a ball low across the box. Bui was there and put it past the keeper into the bottom left corner to make it 4-0.
In the 42nd minute, French latched onto a ball on the left side of the box and surged towards goal. She squared the ball to Richardson, who was alone just in front of the penalty spot, and she put it away for her first collegiate goal.
Forty seconds later, the Gators keeper punched up to try to keep the ball out of the net, but Gianni tapped in the loose ball to send the Eagles into the half up 6-0.
Two minutes into the second half, Yabra, standing 30 yards from goal, played a through ball down the left side of the defense that Stoehr ran onto, took a touch, and beat the keeper low to the far corner to score her first collegiate goal.
French found Greggo in front of the goal in the 83rd minute for a tap-into complete the scoreline.
Juniata returns to action this Wednesday at home against Alvernia at 7:30.
