Blazers Fend Off Eagles

Blazers Fend Off Eagles

FREDERICK, Md.- The Juniata women's soccer team found themselves on the wrong end of a 1-0 score line at Hood College, Saturday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

Fifteen minutes into the first half, the Blazers found the back of the Eagle net.

In the 34th minute, Gillian Dell fired a shot toward the bottom left side of the net, but a Hood defender blocked the shot.

The Eagles went into the locker room trailing by one at the break. Cati Besch was called on to make four saves in the first half. Hood outshot the Eagles, 6-2, in the first half.

Juniata came out strong to start the second half, with Emma Greggo ripping a shot two minutes in that forced the Blazer keeper into a save. Three minutes later, Amelia Yordy got a shot off, and Kara Mette followed with a chance less than a minute later. Both times, the Blazer keeper was up to the challenge.

The Eagles did not manage any shots the rest of the way as the Blazers managed to hang on for the win.

Juniata returns home to play Pitt-Bradford, Tuesday at 4:00.
