WESTMINSTER, Pa. - The Juniata women's soccer team could not match the production of the Westminster (Pa.) Titans as the Eagles fell in a 2-0 defeat Saturday evening.

The first goal the Titans followed was in the 39th minute that found the top-left corner. Westminster headed into halftime with a one-goal advantage and ten shots registered, while the Eagles produced two in the first half.

Westminster would open the second half with control of play producing two shots in the first ten minutes of play. Lydia Hiller put the team's first shot on target in the 64th minute, swiftly followed by the second Westminster goal that found the bottom-left corner. Each side managed a couple of shots over the last 25 minutes as Westminster held on for the victory.

Avery Zales earned her first start in goal for the 2022 season and saved eight shots for a .800 save percentage in the match. Alyssa Bui led the way for Juniata in shots with two in the match, while Kara Mette and Lydia Hiller each had one shot on target.

Juniata will look to bounce back from a pair of losses to open the season tomorrow evening, Sunday, September 4, as they host the Penn State Altoona Lions under the lights of Gibbel Stadium. Juniata holds the advantage in the matchup historically (8-6-2) and enters as the most recent victor following a 3-1 victory in 2021.
