Moravian Wins 2-0 on Juniata's Senior Day

Moravian Wins 2-0 on Juniata's Senior Day

THE STORY: Two Moravian goals in the first half were enough to defeat Juniata on their senior day. The Eagles battled against the wind and the Greyhounds' powerful offense, keeping them scoreless for the rest of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Greyhounds grabbed an early 2-0 lead, scoring twice in the first five minutes of play. After the two Moravian goals, the Eagles defense locked in and kept them away from the net. Goalkeeper Erin Mueller (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) marked six saves in the first half. Juniata was limited to only one shot opportunity, taken by Taylor Garraffa (Strasburg, Pa./Lempeter-Strasburg), while Moravian took eight shots, all on goal.

Moravian tacked on five more shots in the second half. Maggie Pozenel (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Croton-Harmon) recorded a shot for the Eagles. However, they were unable to capitalize, leaving the game 2-0.

INSIDE THE BOX: Moravian outshot Juniata 13-2, as the Eagles took one off-target shot in the first and another wide shot in the second.

The Greyhounds took four corner kicks in the contests and the Eagles took two.

BETWEEN THE POSTS: Mueller was one save away from tying her career high. She saved eight throughout the contest with six in the first and two in the second.

SENIOR SUCCESS: Before the start of the game, Juniata honored the careers of the members of class of the 2017 in the presence of their friends and family. Among the senior class is Olivia Claycomb (Saxton, Pa./Tussey Mountain), Garraffa, Rebecca Hingley (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East), Devin Kos (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) and Mueller.

WHAT'S NEXT?: The Eagles are scheduled to face Elizabethtown next Saturday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m. for their final game of the 2016 season.
