Emert Propels Eagles to Conference Win Over Lycoming

Williamsport, PA – The Juniata Eagles picked up a conference win over Lycoming on Wednesday night. With the victory the Eagles are now 8-12 on the year with a 5-8 conference record. 

Steph Emert led the way as she tied a career-high with 21 points, along with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Haily Sherman tallied 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block. Emily McCann added eight points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal off the bench. Bri Bodtorf totaled five points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks. Olivia Berg added three points, six rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block. Laney Gerdich contributed two points, seven rebounds, an assist and a steal. 

Juniata kicked off the first quarter with three three-pointers from Deja Gillo, Bodtorf and Emert, giving Juniata a 16-11 lead through the first quarter. 

The Eagles came out of halftime hot knocking down three of their first five shots to extend their lead to 13 with 8:33 remaining in the third quarter. 

A much slower fourth quarter had Lycoming pull all the way back to within five points of Juniata with just two minutes remaining in the game. 

The Eagles were able to preserve their win shooting six for eight from the free throw line in the last minute of play. 

Juniata returns to action at home on Saturday against Drew University.
