Annville, PA- The Juniata women's basketball team lost on the road at Lebanon Valley College, 53-41, in their final nonconference game of the year Saturday afternoon.
Steph Emert led the way with nine points, five rebounds, and four steals. Bri Bodtorf tallied nine points, five rebounds, two assists, and a steal, while Haily Sherman contributed eight points, six rebounds, an assist, and two steals. Laney Gerdich added six points and nine rebounds, while Olivia Berg totaled six points.
A short jumper from the paint by Bodtorf and a driving layup off a pick by Sherman were the opening Eagle buckets of the game. Both teams had a few turnovers in the first quarter, but the Flying Dutchman found the bottom of the net several more times as they led 12-6 after one.
The Eagles managed to cut the deficit to one midway through the second. Steals from Emert and Sherman resulted in layups by Bodtorf off a Sarah Betts assist and an Emert jumper.
Juniata trailed by eight at the break, 21-13.
The Eagles narrowly outscored the hosts in the third in hang around within seven, as Betts drilled a three in the final 24 seconds to make it 37-30 heading into the final quarter.
Juniata got as close as eight but couldn't get any closer the rest of the way.
The Eagles will host Moravian on Wednesday at 5:00 PM.
