HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata women's basketball team cruised to a 70-55 victory over Kings College at home on Monday evening inside Memorial Gymnasium.
Haily Sherman led the charge for Juniata, scoring a team-high 17 points, while also grabbing nine rebounds. Bri Bodtorf added 16 points, including going 7-of-9 from the field, and contributed eight rebounds. Laney Gerdich chipped in 12 points and nine boards, and Steph Emert finished with 13 points, six rebounds, and a game-high six assists.
The Eagles controlled the game from the start, jumping out to an early lead. Despite Kings' best efforts, which included 10 points from Lauren Casey and a combined 17 points from Cadie Lewis and Juleesah Hines, the Juniata defense stifled the visitors' offense throughout the game.
Sherman and Bodtorf sparked a decisive 12-0 run midway through the second half, extending Juniata's lead to 18 points. Kings never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
Juniata's balanced attack was key, as the Eagles shot 43.5% from the floor and outrebounded Kings 50-36. The Monarchs struggled offensively, shooting just 30.6% from the field and 28.6% from beyond the arc.
The Eagles return to action tomorrow at 3:00 pm in Memorial Gymnasium for the JC Holiday Tournament Championship game against Salisbury.
