Towson, MD - The Juniata softball team had two players named to the Landmark All-Conference Teams as announced by the conference on Thursday. Ali Superka was named to the Second Team and Jessie Hunt was named as an Honorable Mention.
Graduate catcher Alison Superka, a 5-foot-8 product of Parkland High School from Orefield, Pa., capped off her collegiate career with a strong offensive season, leading by example both behind the plate and at the dish. In 36 games, she posted a .337 batting average, blasted eight home runs, and drove in 24 runs, solidifying herself as a consistent power threat in the middle of the Juniata lineup.
Superka's bat came alive early and often. She homered in key games against Penn College, Dickinson, Susquehanna, Mount Aloysius, Drew, Lycoming, and finished with a bang, launching a homer and tallying five RBIs in the regular-season finale against Scranton. Her clutch hitting and ability to change the game with one swing made her a constant worry for opposing pitchers.
In addition to her slugging, she recorded 18 runs scored, 2 stolen bases, and had multiple multi-hit performances, including a 3-for-3 effort in the season finale and back-to-back two-hit games against Lycoming. She also drew walks and showed excellent plate discipline, contributing in pressure situations.
Senior outfielder and catcher Jessie Hunt, a Northampton Area High School graduate from Bath, Pa., wrapped up her collegiate career with a breakout season at the plate, hitting .353 over 35 games while driving in a team-high 27 RBIs and smashing five home runs.
Hunt showcased consistent offensive production throughout the spring, collecting hits in 23 games, including ten multi-hit performances. Her best outing came in a blowout win over Mount Aloysius, when she went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, and five RBIs, powering the Eagles to a 16-6 win.
Known for her poise in high-leverage situations, Hunt delivered in conference play as well. She drove in multiple runs against Elizabethtown, Dickinson, and Scranton, including a grand performance in the first game of the May 2 sweep with a homer and four RBIs.
