Eagles Drop Two against Moravian

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata softball team closed out the four game series against Moravian this afternoon. The Eagles fell, 8-5 in game one and 10-0 in game two.

In game one against the Greyhounds got off to a running start as they scored four runs in the first inning. Moravian, then scored a run in the third and fourth innings to extend their lead, 8-0.

In the bottom of the fourth the Eagles got on the board. Alaney Vereshack (Smokerun, Pa. / Glendale) singled to right center and Alison Superka (Orefield, Pa. / Parkland HS) singled down the left field line to advance Vereshack. Caleigh Love (Yardley, Pa. / Pennsbury HS) doubled to right center, brining home Vereshack. After the fourth, Moravian still led Juniata, 8-1

The Eagles kept things rolling in the fifth as they scored  three runs to make the score, 8-4. Reagan Goldsmith (Middletown, Del. / Middletown) reached first on a fielder's choice then Maya McLeod (San Diego, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day School) singled to center field, advancing Goldsmith. Catherine Miller (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) was walked which advanced McLeod and Goldsmith. Then, Superka doubled to left center which advanced Miller and brought McLeod and Goldsmith home. Love then singled to center field which advanced Miller across home plate. After five innings the Eagles cut the Greyhounds lead, 8-4. 

Juniata tacked on one final run in the seventh. McLeod singled to right field and Miller was walked to advance McLeod. Love singled down the right field line, brining McLeod home. 

In game two, Moravian scored three in the first, five in the second and two in the fourth as Juniata fell in five. 

Juniata will host Susquehanna, Saturday, March 27th starting at 1:00 PM to start out another Landmark Conference series.
