Softball Splits on Day One of The Spring Games

LEESBURG, Fla.- The Juniata softball team opened up their first day of The Spring Games with a win over Bridgewater St., 9-0. The Eagles then fell, 8-0 in their second game of the day against North Park.

In game one against, Bridgewater St., Abby Ebright (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East HS) started off the Eagles with a walk. Ebright then stole second. Ashley Clark (Saxton, Pa. / Tussey Mountain) singled to left field, advancing Ebright to third base. Clark and Ebright then stole third and home. Clark advanced to third on a fly out to right field. Maggie Peck singled down the left field line as Clark went home. 

The second inning started off with a single to left field by Natalie Krug (Northern Cambria, Pa. / Northern Cambria). Molly Ulrich (Homer, N.Y. / Homer Central) singled and Krug advanced to third on an error by the second basewoman. After a pop up to first base, Ulrich advanced to second. Ebright singled, sending both Ulrich and Krug home. After the second inning, the Eagles led the Bears, 4-0. 

The third inning saw the Eagles, take three more runs. Peck singled to left field. Maya McLeod (San Diego, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day School) advanced to first after being hit by a pitch also advancing Peck to second. Krug then reached first on a fielder's choice while, McLeod advanced to to third. Erin Pfeffer (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity High School) was walked, advancing Krug and McLeod. Ulrich then singled with the bases loaded, advancing Pfeffer, Krug, and McLeod. JC extended their lead to 6-0. 

After, Ulrich and Pfeffer advanced on a wild pitch Alyssa "Sheddy" Shedlock (State College, Pa. / State College), doubled to left field advancing Ulrich and Pfeffer across home plate. Ebright tripled to center field, allowing Shedlock to score the Eagles final run of the game to win, 9-0. 

In game one, Ebright went 1-2 with a walk, a triple, and 3 RBI. Ulrich went 2-2 with 2 RBI and Shedlock went 1-2, with a double, and 2 RBI. 

In game two, North Park scored one in the first, three in the third, one in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth as Juniata fell in six. 

Juniata will continue in The Spring Games tomorrow as they face Sage at 2:00PM and Newbury College at 4:30PM.
