LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Juniata men's cross country team placed 12th at Lock Haven University's 14th Annual LHU Invite on Saturday. Conor Dimond (Summerhill, Pa / Forest Hills) led the team with a time of 26:32.12, finishing 40th out of 257.
Evan MacMullin (Haverhill, Mass. / St. John's Prep) followed with a time of 27:27.50, finishing 91st. Eric Savaresef (Oley, Pa / Oley Valley) and Nick Simpson (Silver Spring, Md. / Albert Einstein) were close behind in 96th and 101st place, while Kevin Schofield (Madison, CT / Daniel Hand) finished in 113th place.
Head coach Jon Cutright acknowledged that the team showed improvement from last weekend's meet at St. Vincent, but is still not where they want to be.
"We didn't get out fast enough as a whole," Cutright said. "Those who ran well got out and hit their splits we set ahead of time. The middle pack scorers are the guys we need to move forward."
The team's next meet is Oct. 10 at Slippery Rock University.
