ROCHESTER, NY- The #6 Juniata men's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-23) win at Nazareth University, Friday evening inside Robert A. Kidera Gym.
Juan Armando had 10 kills (.474) with 10 kills, an assist, 11 digs and a block assist. Chase Robbins totaled 14 kills (.296), an ace, a dig and a block. Will Sierer had 18 assists, a kill, an ace and three digs while Grant Lorelli had 16 assists, a block, an assist and a kill.
Set one featured a late 6-0 run from the Golden Flyers to give them an 18-19 lead. The teams traded points, with Juniata taking three straight points including a service error to reach set point at 24-21. Nazareth managed to take the next three points, but two errors helped Juniata win set one 26-24.
Juniata hit .600 in set two, and a 10-2 run midway through the second set helped the Eagles cruise to a 25-23 win.
Set three the Eagles were trailing 14-17 in the later stages. Juniata scored six of the following eight, with a Robbins kill pushing JC back ahead, 20-19. Nazareth reclaimed the lead at 21-22, before a Chris Mellor kill and a Golden Flyer attack error sent the Eagles to match point. Robbins tooled the block to end the match, 25-23.
Juniata returns to action tomorrow to take on #17 Baldwin Wallace at 11:00am and Penn State Altoona at 3:00.
