Men's Volleyball Moves to 8th in AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Juniata men's volleyball team is ranked eighth in this week's AVCA Coaches Top-15 Poll after being ranked 11th in week two poll.

The Eagles went 3-1 over the weekend after they split with No. 5 Rutgers-Newark.

On Saturday, Juniata defeated Elmira, 3-0, 3-0. In the first match against the Soaring Eagles, Luke Hoffman (Reading, Pa. / Exeter Township HS) led the team with seven kills while hitting .875 to go along with four total blocks. Will Phelan (Saegertown, Pa. / Saegertown H.S.) totaled six kills (.455) and two block assists. In the second match, Drew Hunker (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) tallied 11 kills while hitting .316 and added eight digs. Tyler Goldsborough (Reading, Pa. / Exeter Township HS) and Theodore Weinberger (Santa Clara, Calif. / Adrian C. Wilcox HS) each tallied six kills. Weinberger also added four block assists. 

On Sunday, the Eagles split, 2-3 and 3-2 with the Scarlet Raiders. During the first match of the day, Reese Ganter (Reading, Pa. / Exeter Township HS) tallied 45 assists and two block assists. Phelan totaled 12 kills (.259) and added eight digs while Kevin Duffy (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle HS) totaled 11 kills. In the second match against Rutgers-Newark, Robert Bowling (Columbus, Ohio / Hilliard Darby) totaled 17 kills (.324), 11 digs, and five block assists. Duffy totaled 13 kills (.320) and three blocks. 

Hoffman was also named CVC Athlete of the Week for his performance over the weekend. 

On Saturday, March 13th, Juniata travels to Elizabethtown for a doubleheader starting at 2:00 pm.
