Men’s Volleyball Maintains #1 Ranking in Latest AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, KY- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its latest coaches rankings in men's volleyball on Tuesday. For the third straight week, the Juniata men's team remains #1 overall.

 

Juniata received 11 first place notes to maintain its top position. Stevens Tech (2) is second followed by Springfield (3) in third.

 

The Eagles are 7-0 overall, which is their best start in the program's 26-year history. The previous best was 5-0 that was done twice (2011 and 2014).

 

In the most recent NCAA statistical rankings, Juniata is 9th in hitting percentage (.273) 12th in blocks per set (2.38), 14th in kills per set (11.79), and 17th in assists per set (10.61).  Senior Joe Bortak (Jeannette, PA/Penn Trafford) ranks 11th in the country in hitting percentage with .433.

 

The Eagles play the #6 ranked Kean Cougars on Friday night in Union, NJ at 6 p.m. JC then plays Lasell on Saturday at 11 a.m. followed by a 3 p.m. showdown with the #2 Ducks.
