POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Playing through one of its most competitive matches this year, No. 2 Juniata College men's volleyball battled to the 3-1 (25-27, 26-24, 30-28, 25-21) over host Vassar College Saturday night to close its third match in two days. Juniata (16-3) had three finish in double-digit kills as they outhit and outblocked the Blazers.
Junior Alex McColgin (Buffalo, N.Y./Hamburg) led with a team-high 12 kills, while junior Justin Waldorf (Eden, N.Y./Eden) and sophomore Chad Albert (Cranbery Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) picked up 10 kills each, respectively. Junior Joe Bortak (Jeannette, Pa./Penn Trafford) also had a good day at the net. He collected a match-high five blocks to go with his eight kills.
Juniata remains on the road next weekend as they head to Cairn for a tri-match that includes Valley Forge. They face host Cairn on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m., followed by Valley Forge at 4 p.m.
