2013 (Sophomore): American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II First-Team All-American … Continental Volleyball Conference All-East Division …  National Player of the Week (2/28) … Eastern Collge Athletic Conference All-Star … played in 35 matches and started 26 … concluded the season with a team-high hitting percentage of .451 from the middle … put down a total 283 kills and 2.18 kills per set …  pounded an impressive 15 kills with one error for a .824 hitting percentage against Medaille (2/15) … team leader with 119 blocks … earned a season-high six blocks against Stevens (2/8) and Eastern Mennonite (3/9) … had ten double-digit kill performances in his junior season.

 

2012 (Freshman): Named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Men's Division II Second-Team All-America team ... saw time in 138 games over the course of 38 matches … received honors as the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) freshman of the year … also recognized as the CVC player of the week for the week of February 19th … additionally named to the CVC All-East Division team … led Juniata in kills with 318 (2.30) and in blocks with 122 (0.88) … had a career-high in kills with 17 against Princeton (3/24) and a career-high in blocks with seven against Nazareth (2/25) … had fourteen games with 10 or more kills.

 

High School: Played two years of varsity basketball and was the team captain in each of those two years … played three years of varsity volleyball … received honors as a team captain, two-time first-team all-section selection, second team All-Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League selection, and first-team all-section selection.

 

Personal: Son of Richard and Pam Bortak... POE is elementary education.
