Bortak, Kuhn Earn AVCA All-America Honors

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – For the second year in a row, the Juniata College men's volleyball team had multiple Eagles named to American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America teams.  Sophomores Joe Bortak (Jeannette, Pa./Penn Trafford) and Paul Kuhn (York, Pa./Central York) earned first and second-team honors, respectively.

 

This is the second All-America honor for Bortak.  The middle blocker was named to the second-team as a freshman last year and has been a two-time AVCA Player of the Week during his career.  Bortak ranks fifth nationally in hitting percentage and is top 25 in blocks per set.  He leads the team in total blocks and is third in kills.

 

This is Kuhn's first All-America honor.  A passing right-side hitter for the Eagles this season, he leads the team in service aces, is third in digs and sits fourth in kills.  Kuhn also earned Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) All-East honors in his.

 

The Eagles head to Nazareth for the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championships April 26-28.  They will face Rivier for the first time in program history in the Elite 8 on Friday, April 26 at 8 p.m.
