No. 4 Eagles Split Tri-Match on the Road

UNION, N.J. – The No. 4 Juniata College men's volleyball team split competition Saturday in a tri-match hosted by Kean University.  Juniata defeated Hunter 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-11, 29-27) before being upset by the host 3-2 (27-29, 25-20, 25-19, 12-25, 15-10).  The Eagles are now 18-7 this season.

 

Sophomore Alex McColgin (Buffalo, N.Y./Hamburg) led the Eagles attack.  He finished the day with 26 kills having hit .600 in the win over Hunter.  Sophomore Joe Bortak (Jeannette, Pa./Penn Trafford) earned 20 kills of his own.

 

Freshman Matt Elias (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) continued to settle in as the quarterback of the Eagles offense.  He finished with a career-best 44 assists against Kean and had 87 assists on the day.

 

Juniata returns home on Wednesday, March 27 for the final match on Memorial Gym this season.  They take on Thiel at 7 p.m. in a match scheduled from earlier this month.
