FAIRFAX, Va. – No. 4 Juniata College men's volleyball battled tough on the road Friday night at NCAA Division I rival George Mason University before falling 3-1 (15-25, 25-23, 13-25, 18-25). Juniata dropped to 17-8 overall while the Patriots improved to 10-10.
There were 16 Eagles who saw time on the court. Sophomore Paul Kuhn (York, Pa./Central York) finished with a team-high eight kills and freshman Matt Elias (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) earned his fifth straight 30-plus assists game.
Two other freshmen stepped up in the match. Defensively, Chad Albert (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) had a match-high four blocks. And on the backline, Mark Feiler (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) picked up a team-high eight digs.
George Mason was led by Jonathan Lutz who finished with 17 kills.
Juniata stays on the road as they head to face Kean and Hunter in a non-conference tri-match on Saturday, March 23. The Eagles take on Hunter at 2 p.m. before facing host Kean at 4 p.m.
