No. 3 Eagles Upset by No. 11 Stevenson 3-2

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The No. 3 Juniata men's volleyball team dropped a tough match to No. 11 Stevenson 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 25-20, 17-25, 15-8) to open Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) play at Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) Friday night.  The Eagles are now 14-7 overall and 0-1 in the CVC.

 

Junior Ross Madden (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) earned a double-double with 12 kills and a team-high 18 digs.  Sophomore Joe Bortak (Jeannette, Pa./Penn Trafford) finished with a team-high 15 kills and freshman Matthew Kinnebrew (Ashburn, Va./Stonebridge) put down 12 kills, respectively.  Bortak also tied the match-high of five blocks.

 

Splitting setting duties on the night were senior Rob Strauss (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) and freshman Matt Elias (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn).  The pair combined for 61 assists.

 

Juniata continues play at the CVC Weekend Saturday, March 9.  They will face host EMU at 10 a.m. and then take on Cairn at 2 p.m.
