Strauss Named CVC Player of the Week

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Senior Rob Strauss (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) was named the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Player of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday.  This is the first time Strauss has earned the honor.  He helped lead the sixth-ranked Eagles to a 3-2 upset of No. 1 Springfield last Friday night.

"Rob's leadership was the key to the win," said head coach Kevin Moore.  "He repeatedly got the right guys the ball in the right situations.  Down two games to one, then 8-4 in the deciding game, he held the team together."

Strauss recorded a career-best 55 assists in the upset.  He averaged 37 assists per match over the weekend and led the team in digs with 27.

Juniata (11-3) hits the road next to face off against Ohio State.  The Eagles have only won twice against the NCAA Division I opponent but are coming in hot with a six-match win streak.

"The win should boost the team's confidence going forward versus any opponent or in any situation," Moore added.
