Men’s volleyball’s Madden earns CVC Player of the Week honors

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College sophomore outside hitter Ross Madden (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) has been named Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Player of the Week, for his efforts in Juniata men's volleyball's one win last week.

Madden paced Juniata to a 3-0 win over Division I Sacred Heart University, 25-23, 25-11, 25-15, recording 12 kills behind a .556 hitting percentage, with seven block assists and one ace. 

Madden's performance led the Eagles to a .460 team hitting percentage, with Juniata committing just six attack errors over the three sets. The Eagles also recorded 17.0 total team blocks against Sacred Heart to the Pioneers' 2.0 total blocks.

For the season, Madden is averaging 2.54 kills per set, ranked second on the team, with a .256 hitting percentage on the season. He has logged 91 blocks this season, an average of 0.81 per set, and ranks 37th among NCAA Division III statistical leaders in blocks per set.

Juniata (27-9, 8-0 CVC East) heads into this weekend's CVC Tournament with a first-round bye as the number one seed out of the East Division. The Eagles will face either UC-Santa Cruz (13-6,
7-1 CVC West) or Thiel College (16-17, 3-5 CVC East) in the semifinals on Saturday, April 14, at 11:00 a.m.  The CVC Tournament is being played at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa., with the winner receiving an automatic qualifier into the inaugural NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship.
