Gallo Wins 5000 Meters, Juniata Men Post Strong Performances At Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA - The Juniata men's track and field team competed at the Blue Jay tune up, hosted by Elizabethtown College on Saturday afternoon. 

Danny Ortega (Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley HS) led Juniata in the 100 meters with a time of 12.00. Teammates Gavin Robb (Bloomsburg, Pa. / Central Columbia HS) (12.22), Sean Buckley (Ellicott City, Md. / Howard HS) (12.40 PR), and Evan Downs (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area HS) (12.41) followed closely behind.

In the 200 meters, Jake Alexander (Morrisdale, Pa. / West Branch Area HS) posted a time of 24.99, while Braden Barrick (Newport, Pa. / Newport HS) crossed in 26.31.

Clocking a personal best, Braden Barrick finished the 400 meters in 58.58.

In the 800 meters, Josh Wilson (Chesapeake Beach, Md. / Northern HS) ran a personal best 2:03.03 to lead the group. He was backed up by Deric Fritzges (Walnutport, Pa. / Northampton Area HS) (2:05.77), Jake Alexander (2:10.99), McClain Reamer (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area HS) (2:11.35), Shane Smith (Martinsburg, Pa. / Central HS) (2:19.12), and Clark Gaynor (Bellefonte, Pa. / Bellefonte Area HS) (2:21.14).

Running in the 1500 meters, McClain Reamer recorded a time of 4:18.30, and Clark Gaynor achieved a PR of 4:39.35.

In the 5000 meters, Adam Gallo (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area HS) captured first place in 16:07.38, with Cj Coffey(Burnham, Pa. / Mifflin County HS) finishing fourth at 17:15.25.

In hurdles action, Deric Fritzges placed fourth overall in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.33.

Juniata excelled in the pole vault, with Gavin Robb winning after clearing 3.82m and Sean Buckley placing third with a mark of 3.37m.

Spencer Siegel (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area HS) placed third in the shot put after throwing 13.90m, while Noah Rice (Middletown, Del. / Appoquinimink HS) recorded a 10.18m mark.

In the discus, Siegel threw 33.03m and Noah Rice added a mark of 32.60m.

Logan Hackenberg (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg HS) led the way in the hammer throw with a toss of 33.80m. Talbot Reed-Jaquay (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area HS) also competed, throwing 22.53m.

In the javelin, Aaron Brumbaugh (Dysart, Pa. / Penn Cambria HS) placed fourth with a throw of 49.65m. Gavin Robb(39.49m) and Danny Ortega (35.35m) rounded out Juniata's effort.

Jumping to a mark of 6.13m, Mandel Edelin (Washington, D.C. / Ron Brown College Prep HS) paced Juniata in the long jump. Hunter Robertson (Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley HS) (5.85m PR), Waylon Ehrenzeller (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata HS) (5.43m), and Shane Smith (4.96m) also competed.

In the triple jump, Hunter Robertson finished fourth with a mark of 12.53m, while Waylon Ehrenzeller took seventh at 12.25m.

Clearing a personal best height of 1.70m, Jake Alexander led Juniata in the high jump.

Wrapping up the day, the 4x100-meter relay team of Sean BuckleyGavin RobbShane Smith, and Danny Ortega posted a season-best time of 48.07.
