Men's Track and Field Begins Indoor Season at Houghton

HOUGHTON, N.Y. - The Juniata men's track and field team opened up the indoor slate of the 2022-23 season at the Houghton December Classic on Friday. 

John Redos finished 11th out of 36 competitors in the 200-meter race with a time of 24.20, winning his heat race. 

Andrew Donlan tied for 23rd overall out of 49 competitors in the 60-meter event with a 7.429. Redos was close behind, as he finished in 26th place with a 7.444. 

Donlan was also a competitor in the 300-meter race, as he logged a time of 40.45 to finish in 28th place. 

Lincoln Riddle debuted in the 400-meter race as he finished in 11th place out of 27 participants with a time of 53.20. 

Ellis Kline set an 18:50.42 in the 5000-meter event to finish in 16th place. 

The quarter of Donlan, Redos, Riddle, and Brenden Nauman competed in the 4x200 meter relay race to round out the day for the Eagles, setting their first time of the year at 1:40.78 to finish the event in 10th position.  

Juniata also took part in the weight throw and shot-put events. 

Three Eagles took part in the weight throw, with Barrett Walters putting up the best mark on the team. The junior threw for 13.20 meters to finish in sixth place of 34 competitors, a new personal best throw in the event. Walters improves from the fifth-best throw in program history to the third-best throw in program history with this new personal-best mark. Nauman opened his senior season with a personal-best 12.50-meter throw to finish in 10th place, throwing 0.99 meters farther than his previous-best throw at last season's Landmark Conference Track and Field Championship. Luke Bittner rounded out Juniata's effort in the weight throw with 9.45 meters on his last attempt to finish 27th. 

Bittner's throw in the shot put was 9.04 meters on his first attempt as he finished in 42nd place. 

The men's track and field team returns to action following the winter break as they head to Lehigh University on Saturday, January 21st.
