FREDERICK, Md.- The Juniata men's tennis team picked up their second win in a row as they defeated Hood College, 8-1 on Saturday.
The Eagles swept doubles play, 3-0 to open up the match against the Blazers. Ilia Buralkin (Moscow, Russia / -) and Xavier Huerta (Grand Prairie, Texas / Mansfield Lake Ridge H.S.) won, 8-2 at first doubles, William Michelson (Old Mystic, Conn. / Stonington) and Seth Strawser (Richfield, Pa. / Juniata HS) defeated the Blazers duo, 8-1 at second doubles, and Samuel Reid (Round Hill, Va. / Homeschool) and Kyle Louder (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata H.S.) had a close, 8-4 victory at third doubles.
Juniata went in to singles play up 3-0 and sealed the win over Hood as they won, five of the six singles matches. The Eagles had a dominating performance in the singles matches as three Eagles swept their matches.
Buralkin swept his opponent, 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, Huerta claimed a 6-0, 6-2 victory at second singles, and Michelson also swept, 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. Strawser won, 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles, Reid won the first set 6-1 at fifth singles but fell, 1-6 and 1-10 in the next two set, and Louder won 6-0, 6-2 at sixth singles.
Juniata returns to action March 17th as they host Endicott at 4 PM.
