HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's tennis team defeated Penn College, 9-0 on Sunday morning.
The Eagles swept through doubles play to take a 3-0 lead into singles. Ilia Buralkin (Moscow, Russia / -) and Xavier Huerta (Grand Prairie, Texas / Mansfield Lake Ridge H.S.) claimed an 8-0 victory at first doubles followed by a 8-1 win at second doubles by William Michelson (Old Mystic, Conn. / Stonington) and Trey France (Blue Bell, Pa. / Wissachichon). Robert Singer (Olney, Md. / Sherwood HS) and Kyle Louder (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata H.S.) won at third doubles by forfeit.
Buralkin extended the lead to four with a 6-0, 7-6 (7-1) win at first singles. Huerta won, 6-0, 6-0 at second singles and Michelson also claimed 6-0, 6-0 wins at third singles. Singer had an easy, 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles and France was victorious at fifth singles, 6-1, 6-2.
The Eagles return to the court, Thursday the 27th at 6:30 PM as they face Penn St.-Altoona.
