HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata men's swimming team came in first in their home opener against Goucher Saturday afternoon, besting the Gophers 160-69 in Binder Natatorium.
The team of Marshall Radonovich, Max Baronner, Kevin Bowser, and Christian Rota competed in the 200-meter medley relay. The Eagles claimed first with a time of 2:01.53.
Jim Oster and Jay Gajiwala finished in second and third in the 800-meter freestyle with times of 11:45.69 and 12:19.31.
Radonovich and Will Dovey were the lone competitors in the 50-meter breaststroke, with Radonovich claiming the win with a time of 2:12.51 and Dovey claiming second with a time of 2:24.99.
Rota bested his competitors in the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 32.02. Matthew Tiernan claimed third with a time of 38.60.
Baronner led the pack in the 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 34.78 finishing in first. Isaac March and Oster claimed third and fourth with times of 39.59 and 40.16 respectively.
The 100-meter butterfly saw Bowser and Gajiwala finishing in second and third with times of 1:13.60 and 1:22.41.
Baronner claimed another first place finish in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 27.04. March logged a time of 29.70 to claim fourth.
Rota took first in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:01.84 as Tiernan claimed third with a time of 1:08.28.
The 100-meter backstroke saw Radonovich and Dovey compete with Radonocich claiming first with a time of 1:08.32 and Dovey in second with a time of 1:18.84.
The 100-meter breaststroke saw three Eagles compete against one another. Baronner claimed first with a time of 1:20.01, Oster finished in second with a time of 1:27.80, and March finished in third with a time of 1:33.88.
Rota logged a time of 4:57.35, finishing first in the 400-meter freestyle. Tiernan claimed fourth with a time of 6:14.63.
Radonovich, Bowser, and Gajiwala competed in the 50-meter butterfly. Radonovich finished first with a time of 29.41, Bowser claimed second with a time of 30.75, and Gajiwala finished in fourth with a time of 33.93.
Dovey and Bowser claimed second and third in the 100-meter IM with times of 1:15.58 and 1:19.53.
The team of Oster, March, Tiernan, and Dovey finished first in the 300-meter freestyle relay with a time of 1:56.25.
The Eagles travel to Immaculata next weekend for a 1:00 pm start.
