HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team got a point from their 2-2 draw with visiting Lycoming College Wednesday evening at Gibbel Stadium.
Shawn Tanaka and Brandon Marzula scored for the Eagles, while Jase Colino and Beckett Young each had an assist. Maxwell Mattioni made six saves in the goal for Juniata.
The teams were even through 45 minutes, with each team managing six shots. Juniata managed to put four on target, to Lycoming's two.
In the 52nd minute, Young played a ball down the right wing to Colino, who let the ball bounce once into the box before playing it low across the box. Tanaka ran onto the ball and smashed it into the top corner.
Eight minutes later, Gavin Rauhut poked the ball away from the final Warriors defender 20 yards out and broke into the box. The goalie rushed out and fouled him, and the ref pointed to the spot. Marzula calmly stepped forward and buried it into the left corner to double the lead.
Lycoming showed resilience, and in three minutes, they tied the game by scoring twice on corner kicks.
Both teams had some chances in the final 30 minutes, but the game ended 2-2.
Juniata will look to return to the win column on Saturday at the University of Scranton at 3:30.
