Cianfichi Bags Brace as Eagles Move to 2-1 on the Year

WESTMINSTER, Pa. – The Juniata men's soccer team continued their free-scoring ways as they netted three second-half goals in an 11-minute span to defeat Thiel, 3-0, Saturday afternoon on day two of the Westminster Soccer Tournament.

Juniata completely dominated the first half as they outshot the Tomcats 11-1 but couldn't find the back of the net.

Sophomore Joseph Cianfichi broke the deadlock with his first career goal when he scored off an assist by Sophomore Malvin Madzimbamuto in the 64th minute. Five minutes later, he was at it again as he fired a shot into the lower right side of the net to double the Eagle lead.

Sophomore Sean Weiland added his name to the score sheet in the 75th minute to ice the game for Juniata.

Senior Devon Angermeier got the start in goal and made two saves to earn the shutout.

The Eagles will look to continue flying high at home this Wednesday against Wilkes.
