Eagles Fall to Seahawks on the Road

St. MARY'S CITY, Md.- The Juniata men's lacrosse team traveled to St. Mary's College of Maryland on Tuesday and fell to the Seahawks by a final score of 20-4.

This matchup was originally scheduled to be played last Saturday, February 15 as the season opener for the Eagles, but it was postponed. The Eagles opened their season with a loss Saturday at home against Alvernia.

Instead the game against the Seahawks was rescheduled for Tuesday, and when they were finally able to match up, St. Mary's took control.

After four goals to open the game, Juniata found some offense in the last few minutes of the opening period. Junior midfielder Vincent Bechler got the Eagles off the mark in his first goal of the season and senior midfielder Kolton Black scored his third of the season to bring the Eagles to a 4-2 deficit going into the second period.

St. Mary's pushed their lead to five after scoring three goals in the second period to give them a 7-2 lead at the break.

Both teams doubled their score in the third period, and the Eagles found themselves ten goals behind at 14-4. Junior defenseman Charlie Newman and sophomore attacker Beaux Wojciechowski added to the tally for the Eagles.

The Seahawks saw the game out and scored six more in the fourth period to clinch the 20-4 win.

Wojciechowski and Aiden Duran added an assist on the day, and goalie Ryan Madison accumulated 22 saves.

The Eagles will fall to 0-2 and return to Gibbel Stadium to host Bridgewater College this Friday at 4:00 p.m.
