Pacers Storm Past Eagles

Pacers Storm Past Eagles

SCRANTON, Pa.- The Juniata men's lacrosse team was outscored 6-1 in the first half as the Marywood Pacers maintained the pace to the finish, defeating the Eagles 9-3.

Aiden Duran scored a pair of second-half goals in the contest, while Beaux Wojciechowski provided two assists on the day, while Vincent Bechler had one. Charlie Newman scored the team's other goal opening scoring in the game two minutes in.

Reuben Stoll, Matt McCleary, and Max Dominikoski each caused two turnovers, while McCleary had a team-high four ground balls. In goal, Justin Toney maintained a 62.5% save percentage with 15 saves.

On the day, Marywood commanded possession with 44 ground balls to Juniata's 24 while winning 13 of 15 faceoffs. They generated double the chances of the Eagles with 59 shots to Juniata's 25.

With just the second shot of the contest, Newman opened scoring thanks to a Wojciechowski run from behind the net that found Newman on the edge of the crease for a close-range goal. From there, the Pacers went on a four-goal run over the next six minutes in the period where they outshot Juniata 16-4.

The second period saw more woes for Juniata with a Marywood goal two minutes and then with one second remaining before the halftime break, putting them down 6-1.

The lone third-period goal came from Duran halfway through as Bechler made a parallel run behind the goal and passed right to Duran, who was to the goaltender's right for a shot ten yards out that passed the goaltender.

The Pacers posted three more goals, while Duran scored a consolation goal with two minutes to go with a behind-the-back flick from a few yards out for a 9-3 final scoreline.

The Eagles look to snap a four-game skid as they host Washington & Jefferson Tuesday at 5:00 pm. The Presidents have lost their last two games.
