Eagles Fall to Saints in Home Opener

Eagles Fall to Saints in Home Opener

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's lacrosse team hosted Marymount for the home season-opener and were on the wrong end of a 19-3 scoreline, Saturday afternoon on a cold and snowy afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.

The Saints struck first in the early going, but Aiden Duran (Walden, N.Y. / Valley Central) found an equalizer for JC. Circling the back of the net, he came around the left side and fired over the goalie's shoulder to make it 1-1. Marymount scored the next three goals as they led 4-1 after one.

Kolton Black (Mount Airy, Md. / South Carroll) scored a little over five minutes into the second to bring JC within two, but the Saints took over from there. They scored five goals in the final seven and half minutes as the Eagles trailed by seven at the half.

Marymount controlled the third quarter, scoring five goals while holding Juniata scoreless and managed another five in the fourth.

Jacob Wallman (Arbutus, Md. / Western Tech) managed to find the back of the net in the final five minutes to get a third for the Eagles.

Justin Toney (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) managed five saves for the Eagles in net, while Ryan Madison (Wilmington, Del. / Conrad School of Science) had two and Gavin Jackson (Ocean City, N.J. / Ocean City) also added five.

Matt McCleary (Waxhaw, N.C. / Marvin Ridge) was active defensively for the Eagles, causing five turnovers.

Juniata will host St. Vincent this Wednesday at 7:00.
