Huntingdon, PA – The Juniata men's basketball team fell just short in a close contest against Moravian, 67-64, in a Landmark Conference matchup on Wednesday evening at Memorial Gymnasium.
Ty Kocak led the Eagles with a double-double, posting 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Melchizedek Jonah added 13 points and six rebounds. Jayden Bilger provided a spark off the bench with 15 points and six rebounds.
The game was tightly contested from the start as Juniata jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the game courtesy of a Jonah bucket and a Sho Watson assist on a Neco Campbell 3 ball. Soon the game would change directions as Moravian went into the locker room holding a narrow 38-31 lead at halftime. Juniata battled back in the second half, outscoring the Greyhounds 33-29, but their efforts fell just short in the final moments. Juniata's defense forced Moravian into 14 turnovers and held the Greyhounds to 35.1% shooting from the field. However, the Eagles struggled from three-point range, connecting on only 3 of 22 attempts.
Juniata returns to action on Saturday when they travel to face Goucher at 4:00 PM.
