WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team lost a hard-fought double overtime game at Lycoming, 2-1, Tuesday evening at UPMC Field.
Kaylyn Walters scored the lone goal for the Eagles, and Amanda Puza made eight saves in goal for Juniata.
In the ninth minute, Walters got to a ball that deflected off a Warrior's foot and smashed it into the cage to put the Eagles up 1-0.
Neither team scored until the hosts earned a penalty corner and converted to tie things at one.
The Eagles peppered the Warriors' cage in the fourth, firing seven shots, but they couldn't find a winner.
Neither team scored in the first overtime. The Eagles controlled the period, taking seven shots to the Warriors' zero.
Late in the second overtime, Lycoming took off on a breakaway. Puza saved the first shot, but a Warrior forward tapped in the loose ball to end the game.
Juniata had a 27-13 advantage in shots and 12-7 one in penalty corners.
The Eagles will host the University of Scranton, Saturday at 1:00.
