Eagles Fall to Blazing Blazers Second Half Surge

Eagles Fall to Blazing Blazers Second Half Surge

FREDERICK, Md.- The Juniata field hockey team dropped a hard-fought 3-2 game on the road to Hood College Wednesday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

Colleen Creneti and Lillian Case scored for the Eagles, with Sierra Rossman assisting both goals. Amanda Puza made three saves in the game for the Eagles.

In the early stages of the game, Rossman played in a corner to Creneti on the left wing. The senior midfielder smacked the ball in from the left wing, and it rolled unencumbered through the chaos into the cage to put the Eagles up 1-0.

Hood evened the score 31 seconds into the second quarter.

In the final two minutes of the half, Creneti played in another corner, this time finding case at the top of the arc. She took a touch before firing low and finding the back of the cage to put Juniata up 2-1 heading into the half.

The Eagles had a 5-2 advantage in shots in the first half.

The Blazers scored once in the third and early in the fourth to take their first lead of the game, and Juniata couldn't find a third the rest of the game.

Hood had a 14-5 advantage in shots in the second half and a 16-10 advantage for the game. They also took eight penalty corners to the Eagles' five.

Juniata will look to rebound this Saturday at home against Wilkes at 1:00 pm on Senior Day.
