Field Hockey Falls in Double OT to SUNY Brockport

Meadville, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team fell in double overtime against SUNY Brockport on Saturday afternoon.

Caitlin Steffie scored for the Eagles, while Jane Corbin provided the assist.

A few minutes into the second quarter, an audacious chip shot by Suny Brockport near the edge of the circle went over the outstretched arms of Amanda Puza as JC trailed 1-0. That scoreline held through halftime.

In the final minute of the third quarter, Tess Ledeboer dribbled along the end line on the left side of the goal and crossed the ball. Corbin got the ball at the top of the circle and smacked it towards the cage. Steffie got to the ball first and tapped it past the keeper to tie the game at 1-1.

The teams remained tied, so the game went to OT and eventually double overtime.

The Golden Eagles received a corner and blasted a shot from the left side of the circle into the right corner of the cage to end the game.

Juniata will open up at home next Saturday against #19 The College of New Jersey.
