Football Places Five on Landmark All-Conference Team

TOWSON, Md. -The Juniata football team has placed five athletes on the Landmark All-Conference Team for their performances this season, the most since 2014. Wide receiver Quintin Stephens and safety Ethan Shank were placed on the second team, while running back Hunter Wolfley, wide receiver Sean Hakanson, and offensive lineman Carter Sauer were named as honorable mentions.

Stephens' selection to the second team is the second in his career, as his first all-conference selection came in an honorable mention in 2022. Ranked fifth in the conference in receiving this season, Stephens averaged 73.7 receiving yards per game. He also averaged 6.1 receptions per game with an average of 12.1 yards per catch, totaling 663 yards receiving on 55 receptions to go along with eight touchdowns in nine games played this year. Stephens earned the Landmark Athlete of the Week Award on September 23 for his performance in the team's win against Hartwick College where he totaled 164 yards receiving on six catches with two touchdowns.

Shank earns Second Team honors for the second consecutive season. At safety, Shank has been a consistent and reliable captain on defense this year. He sits atop the conference in tackles, averaging 9.9 per game and totaling 99 on the year with 58 solo tackles and 41 assisted tackles in 10 games played to go along with one sack and five tackles for loss. Apart from his interception, Shank has also forced three fumbles and recovered two, which placed him at number one and number three in the conference, respectively, certifying his place as one of the top defenders in the Landmark Conference.  

Wolfley, after receiving an honorable mention to the Centennial All-Conference Team in his freshman year, has returned to receive an honorable mention to the Landmark All-Conference Team in his senior year. Early in the year Wolfley was named to the Division III Football Team of the Week for his standout performance against Gettysburg where he rushed for a career-high 223 yards and four touchdowns, which  was the most rushing yards by any player in the country that week. Since then, he has been a consistent source of offense in the backfield. Wolfley also totaled 984 rushing yards on 150 attempts to go along with 11 touchdowns this year, averaging 98.4 yards per game which put him at fourth in the conference. His additional 105 receiving yards pushed him to 1,089 all-purpose yards on the season.

Hakanson's Landmark Conference honorable mention is the first in his career, as he has been a great option at wide receiver for the Eagles this year. He averaged 77.2 receiving yards per game and ranked just above Stephens at fourth in the conference in receiving. He has totaled 772 yards on 56 receptions to go along with seven touchdowns this year.

Sauer has been a real utility player for the Eagles this year, playing snaps as a kicker and as an offensive lineman. In kicking, Sauer went one for one in FGAs and three for three in PATs. On the offensive line, Sauer has been a consistent blocker and started in all ten games played this year for the Eagles. His Landmark Conference honorable mention is the first in his career.
