ALFRED, NY- Juniata's football team traveled to Alfred University to play the Saxons on Saturday and suffered a 64-28 defeat.
As the NCAA Division III leader in rushing yards after his week one performance against Gettysburg, Hunter Wolfley came out hot for the Eagles in week two.
After receiving the opening kickoff, Wolfley gave Juniata a 7-0 lead on their third play from scrimmage taking it 64 yards to the house. The Eagles defense held the Saxons to a field goal on their first drive, but the Saxons would take a 9-7 lead after a touchdown and missed PAT at the end of the first quarter on a seven-minute long 11-play, 84 yard drive.
The Saxons scored two unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter to open a 23-7 lead at the halftime break.
Quintin Stephens caught his second touchdown in as many games on a 14 yard reception from Calvin German in the third quarter after Alfred scored on the opening kickoff of the second half. Alfred's offense continued to score and the lead grew to 43-14 before Stephens caught his second touchdown of the day on an eight yard catch to make it 43-21 at the end of the third quarter.
The Saxons capped off a 47-yard drive on their first play of the fourth quarter to take a 50-21 lead. German would complete a 34-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Huffstutler to find the Eagles' fourth touchdown of the day in between two Saxon touchdowns in the final quarter to end the game at 64-28.
German threw for 151 yards and three touchdowns on the day while Wolfley gained 214 yards rushing. Stephens led with 53 yards receiving to go along with his two touchdowns and Lincoln Miller led with ten total tackles on defense.
Now 0-2, the Eagles will head on the road again next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. looking for their first win of the year at Hartwick, a team the Eagles defeated 31-21 last year.
