WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A tough first two innings put Juniata in an early hole, and the Eagles were unable to climb back, falling 8-2 to Lycoming on Tuesday afternoon at Brandon Park. Despite a solid bullpen effort and an RBI double from Jace Irvin, Juniata couldn't generate enough offense to overcome an early deficit.
Lycoming jumped out to a fast start, plating four runs in the first and adding three more in the second to take a commanding 7-0 lead. The Eagles answered in the third when Irvin ripped a double to left-field, driving in Charlie Bakken to get Juniata on the board.
The Eagles added another run in the sixth, as Zach Johnston brought home Connor Blough with a sacrifice fly to center, trimming the deficit to 7-2. However, Lycoming tacked on an insurance run in the bottom half of the inning and kept Juniata off the board the rest of the way.
Irvin led the Eagles at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Bakken, Jacob Despot, and Ethan Pfeffer each added a hit. Blough scored a run and swiped a base.
On the mound, Aedan Hrivnak (0-2) took the loss, allowing six earned runs on nine hits over four innings. The bullpen provided some stability, with Devon Coldren allowing just one run over two innings, while Harrison Leister and Ben Ryan each tossed a scoreless frame to close out the game.
Juniata has a quick turnaround facing off with Mt. Aloysois tomorrow at 3:30 PM at Langdon-Goodale Field.
