Game 1: Moravian 8, Juniata 7
HUNTINGDON, Pa- Juniata fought hard but came up just short in the opener against Moravian, falling 8-7 in a back-and-forth contest. The Eagles took an early lead with a two-run double from Jace Irvin in the first, but Moravian responded with solo home runs in the third and fifth innings to keep the game tight.
In the third, Connor Blough delivered a clutch two-run single, followed by an RBI double from David Beard to push Juniata ahead 5-2. However, Moravian continued to chip away, tying the game in the seventh with an RBI double. Charlie Bakken tied the game once more in the eighth with an infield single, but Moravian plated two runs in the ninth to pull ahead for good. Blough drove in a run in the bottom of the ninth, but the rally fell short.
Braelan Huber took the loss, striking out eight in four innings, while Moravian's bullpen held Juniata scoreless for five innings before closing out the game.
Game 2: Juniata 17, Moravian 13
The Eagles bounced back in a wild second game, outslugging Moravian 17-13 in a game featuring 37 combined hits.
Moravian jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first, highlighted by a three-run homer. Juniata responded immediately, with David Beard lacing a three-run double before Zach Johnston and Tim Coleman added RBIs to put the Eagles ahead 6-5.
A six-run third inning extended Juniata's lead, as Irvin and Ethan Pfeffer drove in runs before Beard delivered again with an RBI double. Moravian clawed back late, using a three-run homer in the eighth to cut the deficit to one, but Beardsealed the win with another three-run double in the bottom half.
Hunter Thomas picked up the win, throwing five innings, while Connor Blough closed the door in the ninth. With the split, Juniata improved to 7-13 on the season.
