Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, VA - The Juniata baseball team competed on opening weekend on the road at Shenandoah on Sunday afternoon.

Game one resulted in a 11-1 loss after the Hornets packed on three runs in the 5th and four runs in the 7th to extend the deficit.

Aidan Chermol was the opening day started going four innings and a third, giving up three earned runs along with a strike out.

In the box, Zach Johnston recorded two hits along with Caden Collins who added in two hits of his own.

Shenandoah recorded nine doubles in the first game to help secure their victory.

Game two of the series fared a lot better for the Eagles winning the matchup 5-3. Hunter Thomas took the bump for this one giving up one earned run and five strikeouts in four innings. Connor Krahulec took the victory giving up two runs and two strike outs in three and two thirds of an inning.

Jace Irvin stood out for Juniata racking up three hits and two RBI's to help give Juniata the victory in game two.

Juniata took the lead in the third inning, after an Irvin single to center sent home two runners to give Juniata the 3-1 lead.

Juniata gets the next week to prepare for their road matchup at Notre Dame (Md.) on March 1st at 12:00 PM.
