Eagles' Offense Goes Cold at Wilson

Eagles' Offense Goes Cold at Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- Juniata baseball traveled to Wilson College on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader, ultimately being defeated in both games by the Phoenix. Game one ended 7-2 in Wilson's favor, while the second game ended 4-1.

The Eagles' offense was largely silenced on the day, producing only seven combined hits between the two games. Evan Mock (McVeytown, Pa. / Mifflin County) would prove to be a bright spot in the lineup, reaching base in three of his four of his plate appearances in game one. He worked two walks in the game while also knocking one of the team's two hits, tallying an RBI and scoring a run. Dakotah Snyder () was responsible for the team's second run, hitting an RBI single to right field in the top of the fifth.

Jake Swank (Portage, Pa. / Portage) was the standout in game two of the doubleheader, going 3 for 3 at the plate and scoring the Eagles' only run. Nic Flaherty (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg) started the game, combining with Dominic Hoyle (Woodbridge, Va. / Garfield), Luke Pastor (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity), and Zachary Malone (Bainbridge, Pa. / Elizabethtown Area) to allow the Phoenix to put up only seven hits in the game, but Flaherty would still be left with the loss after Wilson's first inning lead stood up for the remainder of the game.

The Eagles will now focus on the weekend, where they will play host to Landmark opponent Scranton for a three-game series and fight to keep themselves in postseason contention. Games one and two will take place on Saturday, starting at noon, before the two teams return to the diamond on Sunday for the series finale, again starting at noon.
