Eagles Score 17 Across Two Wins at Drew, Johnson Tosses Complete Game Two-Hitter in Game Two

Eagles Score 17 Across Two Wins at Drew, Johnson Tosses Complete Game Two-Hitter in Game Two

MADISON, NJ- The Juniata baseball team picked up a pair of victories at Drew, 10-3 and 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Doc Young Field.

The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board in the first, with Isaac Maclay (Belleville, Pa. / Mifflin County) hitting a two-out double down the right field line. Jake Swank (Portage, Pa. / Portage) lined a double to left to get JC on the board.

The Rangers responded with three runs in the bottom of the third, scoring three runs with two hits and an Eagle error.

A sac fly from Dakotah Snyder (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg) and a Maclay RBI-single through the left side tied the game at 3-3 through five innings.

Aaron Bollinger (Millerstown, Pa. / Greenwood) smashed a two-run homer to left to give JC the lead for good. In the seventh, Snyder led off with a single, and Maclay followed with a single through the left side. Swank lined a single to right to plate Snyder as Maclay got to third. Swank stole second, and Corey Daniels (Vandling, Pa. / Forest City Regional) drew a walk to load the bases. Bollinger continued his strong day at the plate, smacking a single into right field, which scored Swank and Maclay to make it 10-3.

Chase Alessandroni (Royersford, Pa. / Springford) got the win as he went seven innings while allowing four hits and three runs (one earned) with six strikeouts.

Game two saw the Eagles score a run in the third, fifth and eighth innings, while Snyder added three runs with one swing of his bat in the sixth with a three-run blast to left. Jack Johnson (Alexandria, Pa. / Juniata Valley) did the rest as he dominated the Rangers, tossing a complete-game two-hitter with nine strikeouts while walking two batters.

Juniata heads into tomorrow looking to complete the sweep of Drew. The first pitch is at 12:30.
