Greyhounds Muffle Eagle Offense, Take Series

Greyhounds Muffle Eagle Offense, Take Series

BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team dropped 4-0 decision on the road at Moravian, Sunday afternoon at Gillespie Field as the Greyhounds took the decisive third game of the Landmark Conference series after the teams split yesterday.

Moravian used three straight singles in the first to claim a lead they would not relinquish.

The pitchers traded zeros for the next five innings before Moravian put together a big seventh as they scored three runs on four hits. Juniata did escape the inning with two runners on to limit further damage.

But ultimately, the Eagles could never get going as they only managed one base runner over the final two innings.

The Greyhound ace stymied the Eagles at the plate all day as Juniata managed four hits and a walk on the day. The Eagle's leadoff batters were retired at the start of every inning, while the Moravian leadoff hitters were 5-8 on the day.

Evan Mock (McVeytown / Mifflin County H.S.) and Jake Swank (Portage, Pa. / Portage) each went 2-4 on the for the Eagles,

The Eagles will look to find their grove on Tuesday at home against Gettysburg, with first pitch at 3:30.
