HUNTINGDON, Pa.-The Juniata baseball team dropped a tough 6-4 decision to Catholic, Sunday afternoon at Langdon-Goodale Field.
JC got on the board first in the bottom half of the first inning. Devyn Carper (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) led off with a single up the middle and stole second. Two batters later, he raced home after the first baseman misplayed a ball hit by Adam Kipp (Mt. Wolf, Pa. / Northeastern).
The Cardinals tied things up in the third on a throwing error by the Eagles. Catholic poured it on in the fourth as they added five more to go up 6-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, Colton Kubicki (York, Pa. / West York) led off with an infield single and Joshua Gery (Pottstown, Pa. / Pottstown Senior High School) followed with a single to center which pushed Kubicki to third. Carper's single up the middle scored Kubicki and two batters later, following a double play, Kipp's double to right plated Gery as the Eagles trailed 6-3.
A single up the middle scored Carper in the seventh, but they couldn't manufacture any more runs as the score stayed at 6-4.
