Women's Volleyball Ranked 13th in AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Juniata women's volleyball team is ranked 13th in this week's AVCA Coaches Top-25 Poll after being ranked 8th in last week's poll.

Over the weekend, the Eagles hosted the Juniata Invitational. On Friday, the Eagles faced now ranked No. 16 Johns Hopkins. Juniata fell, 3-2 to the Blue Jays. Marie Gonsar (New Castle, Pa. / Shenango H.S.) tallied 11 kills and 11 digs while Brianne Carmody (New Castle, Pa. / Shenango H.S.) also added 11 kills while hitting .400 and adding two block assists. On Saturday, the Eagles went 2-0 as they swept both St. Vincent College and Messiah College. Against St. Vincent, Carmody totaled 12 kills while hitting .579 and added two block assists. Against Messiah, Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) totaled 11 kills, four solo blocks, and four block assists. 

Carmody was named to the Juniata Invitational All-Tournament team. 

Juniata opens up Landmark Conference play this weekend. They travel to Scranton for a tri-match with Catholic. Match time vs. Scranton is at 2:30 pm and vs. Catholic is at 5:00 pm.
